A fantastic photography retreat at one of Australia's most iconic coastal towns. Immerse yourself in beautiful landscapes and seascapes, as well as practical masterclasses in camera craft, art theory and composition. With the guidance of award-wining Master landscape photographer Ben Kopilow, you will enjoy a relaxing, yet stimulating, weekend that will inspire you and improve your photography.

Please note: Price includes all photography instruction, tuition & critique for the weekend.  Accomodation and meals not included. Attendies are responsible for their own travel arrangements. This course requires min numbers as stated above before it is confirmed to run. Travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover any travel expense losses due to course cancellation if minimum numbers are not met. Alternatively when booking your hotel make sure you choose a no fee cancellation room.

Requirements:

- A digital SLR, Mirrorless, or other digital compact camera that has manula exposure controls.

- Memory cards

- Good walking shoes and reasonable level of fitness - there will be a couple of kilometres of walking invloved, with a bit over rocky terrain.

Recommended/Optional:

- A sturdy tripod

- Spare batteries

- ND filter

 

Kiama Photography Weekend March 2018 Itinerary

 

Friday

4:00pm Composition, Part I - Introduction to the CLUE system. Discussion of the thought process that goes into “creating” an image, rather than

just “taking” a shot. Introduction to Visual Design/Visual Intensity as powerful ways to think about composition instead of “rules.”

5:30pm Camera Craft - Overview of equipment at Rock Pool. Discuss cameras, lenses, tripods etc. Overview of exposure triangle &

metering, focus modes, white balance, focal length & lens perspectives and taking manual control of your camera.

7:30pm Dinner - Get to know each other dinner at Nirand Thai

 

Saturday

7:00am Photo Shoot at Bombo beach/quarry.

9.00am Breakfast at Milk & Honey

10.00am Composition, Part 2 - Advanced composition using “Visual Design” principles: Colour theory & Line theory.

12.00pm Lunch & Free time.

3:30pm Critique Session & post-production - download files and get constructive feedback on your images plus get some tips on finishing

them in Photoshop.
6:00pm
Photo shoot at Bombo beach/quarry.

7.30pm Dinner at Penny Whistlers

10.00am Critique session & more post-production.

11.30am Lecture: Composition, Part 3 - Balance & harmony, further application and inspiration!

Cancellation policy

Cancellations of bookings more than four weeks before the workshop are refundable, less a $50 administration fee. Or the money paid can be used as credit towards another course if booked within 6 months. 

Cancellations of bookings within two weeks are strictly non-refundable.  However money paid can still be used as credit towards another Better Photo Workshops course to be used within six months of the original course date.

Better Photo Workshops reserves the right to cancel the workshop if minimum numbers stipulated are not met, extreme illness of the presenter, or for other unforseen reasons beyond our control. Cancellation of the workshop by Better Photo Workshops will result in a full refund.
